Very interesting of you to basically split the song into three parts, each one continuing from where the other left off. You pulled it off very well, but man the third part is my favorite as it's just intense and combines everything good from the past two plus more! Throughout the whole song I really liked your choice of instruments and dynamics to make it sound like a real orchestral piece. I also say this a lot, but I really like how you managed to make this cinematic piece feel like it's depicting a story, as I feel that the cinematic genre is perfect for that purpose. Amazing work, keep it up!!

Thank you very much for your insight! Technically most of the instrumentation and melodies came from just single notes in a piano roll in FL Studio, but I did at least have to try and figure out which sequences sounded best together, and there are still some parts that I actually did write out full melodies manually, such as the guitar in the first part and the brass halfway through. It's funny, when I was making this song, I never really thought of it as telling a story, just some really cool music being pieced together that so happened to work out that way :P

Very groovy, perfect for synthwave. The actual synths you used were pretty good and retro sounding, and the mixing was great! The bass was mastered really good, and the drums also sound 80s like which is great for matching the genre and style. The melody even though maybe slightly repetitive doesn't get boring because it's carried by changes in effects and instruments. Great work, keep it up!

Thank you for your comments, they are very nice to read!

I was expecting a lead as the main instruments but I was (pleasantly) surprised to hear that the melody was played by the piano, and that later you had a cool gated effect and slight distortion on it. You managed to replicate the feel you were going for pretty well, which is cool! The whole song sounded very bouncy and exciting, kinda like most songs during that time. I also love the ending too, it's a nice way to simmer down the track. Great work, keep it coming!

LGmusic responds:

thanks!

Even though the melody would repeat, it's done in a good and beautiful way. The whole song sounded magical and cheerful, and even slightly anticipative. Kind of like a precursor to the holidays type of feeling actually! I loved the main bell instrument you used because it sounded very wintery and the percussion fit with everything very well. Keep up the great work :)

ShockDragon responds:

Thanks! As for that bell instrument, it was actually a music box that was done. The power of chromatic percussion!

Very interesting and groovy. This would fit very well for a detective/investigative show I feel, as the bg soundtrack! It really reminds me of detective shows I'd sometimes see when I was younger that would have very similar looming music feelings to this. I really like how you make it seem like it has no end almost (well until it does end lol) as the melody seems like it's gonna keep developing while staying around the same intensity. It's a cool effect, and all the instruments you used were very cohesive together. Great work, keep it up!

Thank you, that's exactly what I was going for! Gave me instant sleuth/silent hill vibes lol

This was a very beautiful combination of calm and intense, as Drum N Bass is usually much more hyper and stuff. Also I really like the pitch shift that happens towards the second third of the song, it's an interesting change of pace! And it shifting back to the original pitch towards the end was also really nice. Great work, keep it coming!

Glorious feedback, thank you

I find it really interesting how you managed to use the same rift over and over again for over three minutes, but every time you bring it back it has some harmony variation or different rhythm to the melody. It's very creative and it helps with the story you set up for the song too. The piano sounds almost completely natural due to the shift in dynamics throughout so that was also really neat! Great work, keep it up :)

Thank you so much for your response! I'm glad that you found it enjoyable! I just finished a more refined version and that's already replaced what you just listened to! Enjoy!

I think you nailed the reference right on the head, while still making this very unique! I definitely thought of that one song as soon as your piece started but the unique melody and added instruments for a bigger feel give this song a whole different direction on it's own. The fact that you managed to get the style so right though is just amazing. Keep up the amazing work as always, this is great!

Thank you so much!! I'm really glad you liked it :)

Oh shoot the drop around 0:27 is just awesome! It sounds very nostalgic for some reason; maybe its the melody or maybe its the instruments you used, or both. But I love it so much! The space between the intense sections was also very nicely done and it helped the song stay interesting. And when the drop comes back the second time the new melody is just perfect. Also the second transition after the drop is just so fun even though it's not an intense section within itself! The last drop is also something new and awesome. Idk there's just too much good stuff I can say about this haha, just keep up the amazing work!!

Fumijena responds:

thank you! i appreciate the kind words ! :)

The main riff in this was just awesome. I really liked how it sounded as it was very energetic and happy. The transition between the two riffs was also very well done! Your whole song sounds like one happy adventure from beginning to finish, and idk what it is more about it that I can't describe but it's just perfect. Great work, keep it up!!!
